Description
A bituminous membrane is a roll-form waterproofing sheet made by coating a polyester or glass-fleece carrier on both sides with polymer-modified bitumen. It is usually torch-applied to the substrate, with the laps flame-welded to form a continuous waterproof layer. Polyester carriers provide high tensile strength and flexibility, while glass-fleece carriers are valued for their dimensional stability.
Membranes to TS EN 13969 are used on foundations and basement walls, and membranes to TS EN 13707 on roofs and terraces. Plain-surfaced membranes suit areas that will be covered by a protective screed or finish, while mineral-surfaced membranes are used on exposed roofs. They are also applied to planters, retaining walls and car park decks in constant contact with water.
